Rachel is a freelance producer based in the West Midlands. Her most recent film for the British Film Institute showcases the success and outcomes of a range of Digital Film Archive Fund projects.
For six years Rachel was part of the team running Fullrange, a digital production company based in Digbeth, Birmingham.
Through Fullrange Rachel produced commercials, marketing and communications films, and arts projects for brands including Style Birmingham, Smith & Nephew, American Express, Land Rover, and the Arts Council. Rachel also directed many of Fullrange's factual projects, and worked with the team on creative concept development to solve clients' wide ranging communication issues.
Rachel has experience of working with young people as a producer and director on awareness raising film projects, with organisations including Birmingham Youth Services, The Princes Trust, and the Children’s Society. Subject matter has included homophobia, prejudices faced by young parents, and challenges for young unaccompanied asylum seekers.
Rachel is passionate about alternative forms of education and opportunities for young people. She was chair of Bournville College's UK Career Academy Media Lab for two years, and a committee member of the Young People's Enterprise Partnership consisting of young entrepreneurs across the region.
Rachel has also independently produced numerous short films including UK Film Council Digishort Momster (Dir. Steven Spencer) which was a winner at the Performance Short Film Competition at BAFTA. Momster screened at Flatpack 2009, the Cinemagic International Children's Festival in Belfast, and the prestigious Interfilm Berlin where it was nominated for the International Confrontations Competition for films against violence and intolerance.
In 2008 Rachel also co-produced short film Caterpillar with Michael Ford, which was a UK Film Council Digital PLUS commission written and directed by John Maidens. This film won the 'Best Fictional' award at the Royal Television Society Midlands Awards (October 2009), where Rachel also won ‘Best Production Craft Skills’ as a producer for a body of work throughout 2008 and 2009.
